"Bawangbian" is a traditional folk dance form with a history of more than 200 years in Miyun. There are two main known inheritance lines: one is Yangzhuangzi Village, Gubeikou Town, where it is said that the "Bawangbian" of the village was passed down from the military camp stationed here during the Qing Dynasty; the other is Xishaoqu Village, Dongshaoqu Town, which was passed down by the "Shibuxian" group of the "Golden Bell Governor Old Association" founded in the Ming Dynasty 200 years ago. The basic movements of Miyun's "Bawangbian" are: using a bamboo pole with copper coins and colorful silk as a prop, the number of performers is unlimited, and each person grabs the middle of the bamboo pole with his hand and hits the "upper three routes (hands, arms, shoulders, back)", "middle three routes (front, back, left, right of waist)", "lower three routes (legs, feet, ground)" or double-player fights, etc. Its uniqueness is: "running, jumping, twisting the waist, and whipping, knocking, swinging, and hitting without seeing people, flipping up and down, making money ring, and playing freely with high interest." The dance is full of the fun and competitive elements of "playing, juggling, and teasing", making it more interesting and enjoyable to watch. "Bawangbian" has formed different performance styles in different areas of Miyun. The "Bawangbian" in Yangzhuangzi Village, Gubeikou Town has twelve fixed routines. In the early days, it was performed by soldiers stationed in the barracks and men in the village. The steps were vigorous and powerful, and the movements were sharp and angular, highlighting the masculine beauty. After liberation, women's performances were added, and the steps and movements were much smoother and softer. The "Bawangbian" in the "Shibuxian" meeting of Xishaoqu Village, Dongshaoqu Town, retains the characteristics of singing and dancing, and singing and dancing in between. Its main style features are "running and jumping throughout, and whipping tightly around the body." "Bawangbian" is an art form rooted in the folk of Miyun. It has distinct regional and ethnic characteristics, good fitness and entertainment functions, suitable for group participation, and conducive to promoting social unity and harmony. In addition, the props are simple and not restricted by the venue, which is easy to promote and popularize. It is an indispensable entertainment project in the cultural life of the people of Miyun and has certain social, historical and cultural values. Since 1982, Miyun County Cultural Center has done a lot of inheritance and protection work on "Bawangbian". Organize cultural volunteers from the whole county to go deep into the grassroots to popularize and promote it, and also organize large-scale "Bawangbian" training, competitions, exhibitions and performances throughout the county every year.
