Quantou Shaolin Association
Quantou Village is located in the southeast of Anxin County, Baoding City, in the central area of Baiyangdian Lake, surrounded by water. The Shaolin Association in Quantou Village has a long history, which can be traced back to the Qing Dynasty (Renzong Jiaqing), and has been passed down from generation to generation to this day. Shaolin Association has a set of cheerful, compact and steady accompaniment music, which is played by big gongs, big drums, big cymbals, big cymbals and small big gongs. Shaolin Association is taught by teachers, and its skills are numerous, generally divided into two categories: long fist and flower fist, as well as weapons such as guns and knives. The purpose is to strengthen the body, eliminate violence and protect oneself, and serve production and life. More than a hundred years ago, Shaolin Association was introduced to Quantou Village by Mr. Hao Enguang (from Quantou Village), and has a glorious history. The eldest apprentice Li Yulin (from Quantou Village) led the masses to fight against missionaries from Western powers when he was young. After liberation, he served as a martial arts coach in the State Sports Commission. His son Li Tianji (from Quantou Village) inherited his father's business and served as the Secretary-General of the Chinese Wushu Association. The second disciple, Hao Jiajun (son of Hao Enguang), set up a school in Tianjin to teach students. His students are all over the world. The development of Shaolin Association has cultivated the martial spirit of Quantou people. It has sent many outstanding fighters to the Anti-Japanese War and the War of Liberation. Over the years, Shaolin Association has been an important social group in Quantou Village. It has to go out every year during festivals or important celebrations. It performs for the masses and enlivens rural cultural life. Shaolin Association has three fixed performances every year. The first is the street performance on the 30th day of the twelfth lunar month with all the flower fairs in the village in the main lanes, the second is the performance on the 14th, 15th and 16th day of the first lunar month for the Lantern Festival, and the third is the performance for villagers at the temple fair on the 19th, 20th and 21st day of the lunar calendar. Since the reform and opening up, with the development of the socialist market economy, people's attention has been focused on economic development, and Shaolin Association has become increasingly sluggish. Now the skilled old artists in the Shaolin Association are all old, and some have passed away. Today's young people lack understanding of martial arts and have little interest in it. In particular, all performances of the Shaolin Association are purely voluntary and there is no economic income, which makes more young people stay away. Some routines are in danger of being lost.
