Shiren Bridge Lanterns in Shangrao (the third batch at the provincial level) Shiren Township has ten villages, each of which has a bridge lantern festival organization, and a dragon head is selected. The elders are the leaders, and the old lead the new, and the tradition is passed down from generation to generation. The bridge lantern festival in each village has dozens of bridges at least, and hundreds of bridges at most. In ancient times, bridge lanterns were mainly used to worship the land and grain, and to respect Buddhism and Taoism. Today, they are themed to celebrate the Lantern Festival, the harvest, and the prosperous times, but they still continue the ancient sacrificial rituals and integrate with the "temple fair" culture. The bridge lantern festival period is from the 12th to the 15th day of the first lunar month every year. During the lantern festival, dozens of bridge lanterns are like giant fire dragons, gathering at the Taoist holy place Shiren Temple. The dragon head bites the dragon tail, and the dragon tail follows the dragon head. It is mighty and majestic, and it looks like a dragon going out to sea, like the Milky Way landing, and there are seas of lights and mountains of lights everywhere, and fireworks. Shiren Bridge Lanterns are composed of three parts: dragon head, dragon body, and dragon tail. Dragon heads are divided into duck dragons and shrimp dragons. The dragon head is tall and majestic. The dragon head is made of bamboo strips and decorated with colored lights. It is about three meters high and five meters long. It can light 24 candles at the same time, symbolizing the 24 solar terms. The dragon body is commonly known as the "descendants' lantern". It is made up of hundreds of wooden boards. Each board is two meters long and twenty centimeters wide. The board holds two lanterns that can light candles. The lanterns are decorated with various patterns such as figures, fish, dragons, birds, beasts, and mountains and rivers. The dragon's tail is shaped like a horizontal S, decorated with scales, dragon claws, and a slightly tilted tail. When playing, it swings left and right and up and down, just like a carp jumping over the dragon gate.
