The legend of Doulonggang is a folk literature project in the fourth batch of representative projects of Yancheng's municipal intangible cultural heritage. Project introduction: Doulonggang, also known as Longkai River and Niuwan River. The original upper reaches were in Wushili River, and it flowed eastward through Xinfeng, Longwangmiao, and Xiaming Gate into the sea, with a total length of 60 kilometers. It was rectified in 1965. After the renovation, Doulonggang started from Suntongzhuang in the suburbs in the west, and flowed into the sea through Chuanchang River, Fangqiang, Sanlong, and Doulonggang Gate. It is 78.2 kilometers long and has a basin area of 4,428 square kilometers. It is a natural dry river for drainage into the sea in the Lixiahe area. From Baiju to the east, a Haihe River meanders for 30 miles to Xituan, and people usually call this river Sanshili River. At the west pass of Sanshili River to Xituan, there is a sharp turn to the northeast, which is the famous Niuwan River. Niuwan River has 18 sharp turns in a row. Sometimes after a turn, it is almost on the original line, winding until Doulonggang. There is a magical legend about Niuwan River and Doulong Port. In the early years, in a village called Baiju, more than 20 miles west of Xituan, there was a farmer named Xue (according to Mr. Huang Bingheng, an old man who carves ancestral seals on Xituan Street today, this Xue was his grandfather of a certain generation). His family raised a big white buffalo. This white buffalo was eight feet high from hoof to back, ten feet from head to tail, with curved horns, tall and majestic, mighty and brave. When a cart carrying five or six thousand catties of salt was pulled, it would fly with all its hooves. Sometimes when the cart got stuck in a muddy pond, five or six cows couldn't pull it up, and it would "moo" and drag it away. When pulling a plow to cultivate the land, it would walk as fast as flying, and the Xue family regarded it as a living treasure. This year, Dabai gave birth to a little white buffalo, which was also very spirited and loved by everyone. This summer, the climate was abnormal, and thunderstorms and tornadoes occurred frequently on the East China Sea. When the tornado came, a black dragon could be seen hanging in the sea from the clouds. The East China Sea was surging with black waves, and heavy rains were pouring down. The dark clouds in the sky rolled and rushed straight to the seaside. Many fishing boats went out to sea and capsized, and many salt fields were washed away. Countless houses and crops in the village were destroyed by the wind and rain. The salt farmers on the seaside hated the black dragon that was stirring up the storm and were terribly afraid of it. Strangely enough, whenever a storm came, the big white cow of the Xue family would become irritable and restless, with its eyes staring blood red like copper bells, its horns pointing to the east, and its four hooves digging the ground, as if it wanted to rush to the seaside. Unfortunately, it was tied to the pile with a nose rope, and the white cow made a dragon roar in its throat, which seemed to be very unwilling. One day, there was another strong wind and heavy rain on the East China Sea, and a black cloud rolled and rushed straight to the Xue family's cowshed. The big white cow's eyes were blazing, and its two front hooves were raised high, standing up like a human, and rushing eastward. It happened so fast that with a "bang", the nose rope as thick as a thumb was broken. The big white cow roared "moo", kicked its hind legs, and jumped into the Sanshili River. Water splashed out of the river, and the big white cow rushed to the seaside like an arrow. The old couple Xue saw their beloved big white cow break free from the reins and run into the storm. They were surprised and asked, and then they saw the little white cow was blocked by the fence and could not follow the big white cow. It was mooing in the cowshed. Father Xue knew that the mother cow was reluctant to leave and would definitely return, so he felt a little relieved. The old couple reinforced the fence in the rain and then went back to the house. At that time, there were lightning and thunder over the East China Sea, strong winds, and heavy rain. A black cloud pressed down, and a group of white clouds topped it, rolling up and down, making the sky dark. After a long time, the black clouds retreated to the east, and the white clouds fell into the Sanshili River. The storm gradually stopped. The salt farmers and cooks on the seashore didn't know what the sky was doing again. They were so scared that they closed their doors and windows and dared not say a word. As for the old couple of the Xue family, after they had cleaned up the cowshed, they went back to the house, closed the door and windows, and went to bed without eating dinner. The wind and rain gradually stopped. It was midnight, and the moon was already dim. Suddenly, the old man Xue heard the calf mooing. He was worried, so he got out of bed and went to the cowshed with a candle in his hand. He was overjoyed to see that the big white cow had returned by itself, and the little white cow rubbed against the mother cow and was very affectionate. Old man Xue stepped forward quickly, stroked the big white cow and said, "Big white cow, big white cow, other people's cows hide in the cowshed when it rains, why do you rush into the wind and rain? Oh! Who did you fight with? Why are you covered in mud and wounds?" Old man Xue was stroking the big white cow with scars all over his body and was crying when he suddenly heard the big white cow say, "Master!" The word "master" scared Old man Xue so much that he trembled and almost dropped the candle in his hand. He looked around and saw no one else. "Could it be that this beast has spoken?" Old man Xue said to the big white cow tremblingly, "Cow, I treat you well on weekdays. I have never whipped you or scolded you. Today, Don't scare me!" The big white bull said with tears in his eyes, "Master, don't be afraid, it's me who's talking." Old man Xue was surprised and said, "You are a cow, how can you speak human language?" The big white bull said, "I am the reincarnation of a white dragon, not an ordinary ox, master, listen to me slowly." The big white bull's words shocked old man Xue and made him dumbfounded. It turned out that the big white bull raised by old man Xue was the reincarnation of the little white dragon, the third prince of the Dragon King of the East China Sea. During the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty, Xue Rengui, a wise minister who responded to a dream, crossed the sea to conquer the East. At first, he was just a fireman under the vanguard Zhang Shigui. He only went into battle at critical moments, but all the credit he made went to Zhang Shigui's son-in-law He Zongxian. When Xue Rengui went on the expedition, the great marshal of the Eastern Liao Dynasty, Gai Suwen, was riding a black dragon horse. How could an ordinary horse fight against him? At that time, the third prince of the Dragon King followed the order of the Jade Emperor. As long as he heard Xue Rengui's whistle, he would turn into a white dragon and go out to sea, so that Xue Rengui could ride him to fight against Gai Suwen. Later, because Tang Wang Li Shimin was eager to see the wise minister Xue Rengui who responded to his dream, Xu Maogong designed a plan. Li Shimin went hunting in Sanjiang Yuehucheng, and his horse fell into the silt river. He was almost killed by Gai Suwen. The white dragon horse carried Xue Rengui and jumped over fourteen hills in a row. He rushed to the silt river. General Xue Rengui appeared to rescue him. The white dragon horse jumped from the top of the mountain to the riverside, and Xue Rengui killed Gai Suwen. There is no greater merit than saving the emperor. Emperor Taizong of Tang Dynasty bestowed him with the title of the Grand Marshal of the Eastern Expedition. He set up the Dragon Gate formation and forced Gai Suwen to the river alone. Xue Rengui chased him on horseback. Gai Suwen drove the black dragon horse into the river. The black dragon horse stopped sinking when the water reached its belly and floated away. Xue Rengui drove the white dragon horse down the river. The white dragon horse was quite skilled in Taoism. The river water only flooded its four hooves, so it naturally walked on the river like flying. Soon, it caught up with Gai Suwen. Gai Suwen did not want to be captured and humiliated, so he cut his own throat with his sword, and his head fell into the river. The black dragon horse saw that his master was dead, so he also turned into a black dragon and escaped into the river. After Xue Rengui's expedition to the east, the white dragon horse also returned to the East China Sea as a dragon. Once, it was ordered by the Jade Emperor to rise up to the sky to make rain, and it sneezed inadvertently. This sneeze was so big that it flooded several towns and villages on the coast and drowned many people. The local city god reported to the heaven, and the Jade Emperor was furious. He wanted to order the beheading of the little white dragon. Fortunately, Taibai Jinxing interceded for him. Considering that the little white dragon turned into a horse and helped Xue Rengui's expedition to the east, he punished the little white dragon to reincarnate as a cow and pull carts and plow fields for three generations as a salt farmer and tenant on the coast to atone for his sins. Little White Dragon thought that he had been a mount for Xue Rengui, the White Tiger Star in the upper world. This time he came to the mortal world to atone for his sins, so he decided to join the Xue family as a cow. Two lives had passed. In the third life, Little White Dragon chose the family of Old Man Xue on the East Sea. He was about to succeed in his sins. However, Gai Suwen's mount, Black Dragon Horse, was punished for his shallow cultivation and turned into a dragon and returned to the sea. He held a grudge against Little White Dragon and found out that Little White Dragon was reincarnated as a cow in the lower world. So he came to take revenge and wanted to kill White Bull. Although Little White Dragon was more powerful than Black Dragon, he could not show his dragon body because the punishment for being a cow for three lives was not over. Although he broke free from the reins and fought hard to repel Black Dragon, he was also seriously injured. Old man Xue was frightened after hearing what the big white bull said. He quickly put down the candle and bowed, saying, "Brother Niu, please forgive me. I didn't know you were a real dragon in the mortal world. I have offended you a lot when I was plowing the fields. But the black dragon is very ferocious and will come to take revenge soon. You can't ride on the clouds with your cow body, so how can you be its opponent?" The white bull said, "Master, don't worry. I have been a cow for three lifetimes and my sins will be paid soon. I will be able to become a dragon when I go into the sea. If you can help me with three things, I will definitely be able to defeat the black dragon and save the people along the coast from the storm." Old man Xue said, "I am a mortal. I don't know if I can help a god. Tell me what three things you want to do and I will help you at the risk of my life." The white bull said, "It's not difficult, it's not difficult. The first thing is, please go to the iron shop on the street early tomorrow morning and forge two pure steel sharp knives. "The knife, come back and tie it to my horns, and I will have a ten-point chance of winning the fight against the black dragon. The second thing, I have calculated that the black dragon will come to fight me at 3:15 the day after tomorrow, and there will be a storm when the dragon moves. Please inform the fishermen in Xituan and Baiju not to go out to sea, and not to go out to watch when it is stormy, so as to avoid disaster. The third thing, the little white cow is attached to its mother, and if it follows me when I fight the black dragon, it will distract me, so please take good care of it and don't let it follow me. This cow can help you pull carts and plow the land when it grows up, and repay you for raising it." Old man Xue said hurriedly, "I can do all these three things, please rest assured, brother Niu." After that, he took a towel and a bucket of water, cleaned the old cow's wound, and sprinkled incense ash as a medicine, and the white cow thanked him profusely. The next morning, Old Man Xue went to the street and asked the iron shop master to forge two sharp knives with good steel. At the same time, he spread the word that there would be heavy wind and rain in the near future and that they should not go out to sea. The news spread, and fishermen and cooks in Fangqiang, Xituan, and Baiju were all prepared and would not go out to sea. The old man returned home and tied the two knives firmly to the horns of the white ox with hemp ropes. He brought good grass and fine feed to feed the big white ox and removed the nose rope so that it could fight freely when the time came. Then he drove the little white ox into the cowshed and reinforced the fence to prevent the calf from escaping. On this day, muffled thunder was heard in the east. Not long after, there were thunder and lightning, wind and rain, and a black dragon was vaguely seen, rolling with black clouds, rushing towards the Xue family cowshed with great momentum. Good white bull, I saw it bend its front legs, kneel down to its master, then leap up and jump into the Sanshili River. The dragon bull entered the water, and its majesty increased. I saw the big white bull roared like a dragon, twisted its waist, and immediately turned into a giant bull about three feet high and four feet long, with eyes wide open like copper bells, roaring and rushing towards the black dragon. In an instant, the sky was dark, thunder and lightning flashed, and the white bull and the black dragon fought together. The white bull's three lives were about to end, and his Taoism was higher than before. In addition, the double swords tied to his horns added a bit of divine power. Although he could not fly, he could fight the black dragon in the half cloud and half fog with the help of the Sanshili River. The black dragon did not expect that the white bull had double swords on his horns. After a few rounds, his horns broke and his scales fell off, and he retreated step by step. The white bull shook his divine power and pursued the victory. It was about to retreat to Xituan Town. The black dragon saw that the white bull never left the Sanshili River, and suddenly realized that it was because the water buffalo could not leave the water. The cunning black dragon swung its tail and left the sky above Sanshili River, but turned to retreat northeastward from the western area. How could the white bull let go? It roared "moo" and pushed forward with its head, forcibly creating a ditch. The water of Sanshili River immediately poured over. The big white bull stepped on the river water, pushing forward with one horn after another, and actually opened a new river from the flat ground. Let's not talk about the big white bull and the black dragon fighting hard here. Let's talk about the little white bull who saw its mother abandon it and go east. It was so anxious that it turned around in the cowshed. It couldn't see its mother and jumped into the air in a hurry. The little white bull was originally a dragon, so how could the wooden fence stop it? With a "moo", the little white bull jumped out, rushed into the Sanshili River, and chased eastward. Here the big white bull was fighting with the black dragon, when suddenly a "moo" sound came from behind. Mother and son were connected by heart, so the big white bull turned back and glanced at the little white bull. It didn't matter that the river immediately turned a sharp bend. The poor little white bull moaned eighteen times, and the big white bull looked back eighteen times, and the river turned eighteen bends. The hateful black dragon saw that the white bull was distracted and had an opportunity, so he turned back and stepped up his attack. The big white bull could no longer care about the little calf, and turned back to fight with the black dragon. This fight was very serious, because if he retreated again, he would enter the sea. The black dragon knew that the white bull would become a dragon if he entered the sea, and he would no longer be his opponent, so he fought desperately with the white bull. The little white bull also caught up with him from behind, and it shouted to cheer for its mother, but suddenly rushed up and bit her, butting her horn. This time the black dragon was even more distracted and retreated step by step. The retreat reached the seaside. The big white bull swung its horn, and the river water flowed into the sea. The sea water also rushed in. At this moment, the big white bull's three lives of hardship had come to an end. The sea water soaked it, and it suddenly appeared with the little white bull in the form of a dragon, shaking its head and tail, and rising into the sky. The sky showed an eternal wonder: a black dragon and two white dragons, one large and one small, circling and fighting in the clouds. The white bull turned into a dragon, so how could the black dragon still be a match? Soon, it was defeated and fled, diving into the sea. The two white dragons also dived into the sea one after another and chased it. The place where the white bull and the black dragon fought formed the bottomless Doulonggang. The Doulonggang River extended to the southwest. When it reached Xinfeng, the river formed 18 consecutive steep bends. Because the big white bull turned back to visit the little white bull, the people of Xinfeng called it Niuwan River from generation to generation. This day was the third day of the seventh month. From then on, every year on the third day of the seventh month, the Xue family would set up an incense table at the door of their house to miss their big white bull. The story of Niuwan River and Doulong Port has also been passed down from generation to generation in Doulong River. (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.) (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.)
