Mud painting
Mud painting is a traditional painting that uses mud as the main material, mixed with a certain proportion of wheat straw, wheat husk, cotton wool, hemp rope, hair and other auxiliary materials. After adding water and stirring, it is attached to the hard board that meets the requirements in different layers, and then it is formed after smoothing, drying, drafting, outlining, coloring and other steps. Mud painting has a strong regional characteristic and religious color. It is the experience summary of ancient craftsmen in copying or recreating precious murals, rock paintings and other immovable art treasures. It has made great contributions to many aspects such as society, religion, architecture, art, and cultural relics protection. Ruicheng is located in the Loess Plateau, which is full of highly plastic yellow clay. When making mud skin paintings, first-hand information should be obtained, and then copied, outlined, filled with colors, polished, aged, reinforced and sealed. After the information is obtained, the manuscript is transferred to the mud skin, and then it is made with mineral pigments and traditional manual techniques. The lines and colors in the early days were simple, and they became richer, more complicated and more detailed later, and the painting methods were more rendered. The use of mud skin as a carrier to draw is very close to the original. After the original is lost, the mud skin murals can leave the style of the original for future generations, and it can be completed in different spaces and times.
