Two dragons playing with spiders is an original folk dance that has been handed down in our county to this day. It is popular in Nengren Township, Dingyuan County, Chuzhou City, Anhui Province. Its unique dance form has a history of more than a thousand years. Nengren Township is located about 45 kilometers northwest of Dingyuan County, Anhui Province. The township is high in the north and low in the south. The north is a low mountain and hilly area, and the south is a plain area. It is beautiful here, the folk customs are simple, the products are rich, and the transportation is convenient. The Hexu Expressway and the cement road from Provincial Highway S334 to Wudian Town, Fengyang pass through the area. It borders Provincial Highway S311 and the Luqiao Salt Chemical Base with an investment of 24.3 billion yuan in the south, Fengyang and Bengbu in the north, and the Huainan Railway Line in the west. The total area of the township is 54 square kilometers, with 8 administrative villages, 96 villagers' groups, and 24,053 people. "Two dragons playing with spiders" is also known as playing with dragon lanterns. It is a traditional folk dance formed by folk legends unique to Nengren Township, Dingyuan County, accompanied by gongs and drums; it is a collective dance mainly for young and middle-aged people (male); it is also one of the folk arts that the people love to watch the most. The name of "Two Dragons Playing with Spiders" has a mysterious story. Legend has it that one day in the late Eastern Han Dynasty, there was a temple fair at Nengren Temple. Suddenly, someone in the bustling crowd shouted, "Look up in the sky!" Auspicious clouds were seen above Nengren Temple, and two giant dragons and a beautiful girl (spider spirit) were playing and dancing in the air. People sighed at the sudden disappearance of this beautiful scene. In order to leave this beautiful memory, later generations used the traditional folk art of "Two Dragons Playing with Spiders" to show and reproduce the scene at that time. People spontaneously organized a group of young people to reproduce the scene at that time. The "Two Dragons Playing with Spiders" in Nengren Township, Dingyuan came from this. What is different is the "Playing with Spider Spirit". The dragon of "Two Dragons Playing with Spiders" is 21 meters long and has 9 sections. There are 25 people in a group, with 2 people for the dragon head and 2 people for the dragon tail. A set of dances takes about 13 minutes. The dance movements include "standing on a jade pillar", "playing with a spider", "flipping in water", "coming out of water", "dragon", etc. They are closely linked and have a large range of movements. They have unique performance characteristics and methods. Especially when performed in the square, they are majestic and soft in strength. Walking on the street and lighting up the lights also have certain characteristics and are deeply loved by the general public.
