Liuyuan Xiangyin Dharma Drum
Liuyuan Xiangyin Drum Festival is a folk festival that combines music and dance. It began during the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty (1821-1851), and most of its members are local residents. In the Qing Dynasty, Tianjin Drum Festival became popular because of the worship of Mazu. Every time there was an "imperial meeting", folk Drum Festival, Music Festival, Crane Age Festival, Chongge Festival, Zhongfan Festival, Stilt Festival, etc., performed various skills along the street, presenting a grand occasion. Xiangyin Drum Festival was originally a Drum Festival that accompanied the "goddess" in the temple when she went out on tour. In front was the ceremonial guard, which consisted of the front color and the band, and was directed by the lead gong. The front color was the formation of daily necessities that the goddess warned people to avoid and carry with her when she went out on tour, including two gate flags, high lights, soft pairs, hard pairs, lantern signs, round cages, octagonal boxes, suitcases, tea barrels, tea stoves, wind lanterns, etc., and behind were drums, cymbals, cymbals, cymbals, clang clang, big beetle flags, nine lotus lanterns, etc. There are 40 people holding hand flags to maintain the program, and 30 teenagers carrying stools for the performers to use when playing long songs. The costumes and props of Xiangyin Dharma Drum Association are well preserved. There were originally ten sets of songbooks, but now only five sets are preserved. In the first month of the lunar calendar, the heads of various flower associations negotiate and hold a polite mutual worship with the theme of celebrating the harvest and the New Year. On March 3rd of each year, the day when the goddess goes out for a tour, several flower associations gather in Beicang. Xiangyin Dharma Drum is arranged on the left and right of the goddess's treasure chariot as a follow-up association, and is set up and performed. Xiangyin Dharma Drum is a martial Dharma drum in the Dharma Drum Association. When performing, the scene is spectacular. It is a martial Dharma drum in the Dharma Drum Association. Most of the movements are difficult martial arts routines, accompanied by the rhythm of the performance from low to high. When it is still, it is like a calm lake in autumn. When it moves, it is like a dragon flying and a phoenix dancing. At the climax, it is like a thousand horses galloping. When it goes on the stage, it has a thunderous momentum. With the team style, club props, and costumes, it presents a colorful performance effect. The unique lanterns of Xiangyin Drum are beautifully displayed in front of the public. During the night performance, a long dragon composed of lanterns is formed, which becomes a magnificent landscape during the performance of Beicanghuanghui. Liuyuan Xiangyin Drum has been carefully maintained and passed down by generations. In 1951, it won the first prize in the Tianjin Folk Flower Fair; in 1986, it won the second prize in the Jingu Flower Fair Competition; after the 1990s, it participated in many competitions and celebrations. Liuyuan Xiangyin Drum is a living traditional culture that integrates simple and elegant folk customs, traditional music, dance and craftsmanship. In 2008, it was included in the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage list. The Xiangyin Dharma Drum has been passed down for six generations: the first generation inheritor: Wang Youlin (1829-1924); the second generation inheritor: Feng Kui (1874-1970), Zhao Xiaofeng (1875-1961); the third generation inheritor: Feng Zhengui (1922-present), Wei Xiangyun (1924-present), Feng Zhenfu (1930-1993); the fourth generation inheritor: Wang Guiqiu (1944-present), Tian Wenqi (1947-present), Wang Zicai (1955-present); the fifth generation inheritor: Liu Yuxin (1971-present), Wang Xu (1983-present); the sixth generation inheritor: Liu Qiangqiang (1989-present), Hao Tianlei (1993-present). Liuyuan Xiangyin Drum Association has formulated a series of protection measures: training 20 talents to be successors; investing 20.3 million yuan to manufacture new props in imitation of antiques; strengthening the management of various tasks so that newcomers can perform independently; building a new hall for the Drum Association; in 2010, the new hall was selected as a demonstration base for the protection of intangible cultural heritage by the Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Culture and Broadcasting.
