The art of mounting and restoring ancient calligraphy and paintings is a traditional craft to restore ancient calligraphy and painting treasures. Many ancient Chinese calligraphy and painting works with a long history have fallen off due to improper preservation, or have become damp and moldy due to poor storage, resulting in decay and fracture. Repairing these damaged parts can extend the life of the calligraphy and painting works. In 2008, the art of mounting and restoring ancient calligraphy and paintings was selected into the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage protection list in my country. In the process of being handed down from generation to generation, Chinese ancient calligraphy and paintings will become damp and moldy, full of stains, and bitten by insects and rats due to poor collection and storage. The natural aging of silk and paper will also cause holes, decay and fracture in calligraphy and paintings, etc. These problems will affect the life and artistic value of ancient calligraphy and paintings, and even destroy them. The reason why Chinese calligraphy and paintings have become works of art and can be passed down from generation to generation is that a key issue lies in mounting and restoration. The history of ancient book restoration technology is closely related to the history of book development, and it has a history of more than 2,000 years. According to archaeological data, the "Figure Riding a Dragon Silk Painting" unearthed from a Chu Tomb in the Warring States Period in Hunan in 1973 has "a very thin bamboo strip wrapped on the top horizontal edge, tied with a brown silk rope". Later, it was further discovered on the silk painting unearthed from the No. 1 Han Tomb of Mawangdui in Changsha that "the top of the T-shaped silk painting is wrapped with a bamboo pole and tied with a brown ribbon, and the two lower corners in the middle and lower parts are decorated with cylindrical ribbons woven with green fine linen thread". The above data can push the history of Chinese calligraphy and painting mounting back to the Warring States Period more than 2,000 years ago. The Chinese nation is vast and rich in resources, with a long cultural history. Ancient calligraphy and paintings are the artistic treasures left to us by our ancestors. The mounting and restoration of ancient calligraphy and paintings is the reproduction of ancient civilization. The mounting and restoration of ancient calligraphy and paintings is a special skill. To engage in binding and repair work, one must not only be familiar with the forms and versions of books from various dynasties, but also understand the paper, book covers and binding styles of each dynasty, and have skilled skills. Repairing an ancient book often involves more than a dozen steps, each of which is extremely sophisticated, and the requirements for the people engaged in bookbinding and repair are even more demanding.
