The "Hua Cymbals and Drums" in Xitieying Village, Fengtai District, was formerly known as the "Old Drum Association". Because it was close to the capital, it was "ennobled by the emperor" in the late Qing Dynasty, so it was called "Shendan". The lotus pattern on the drum gang was changed to a "dragon" pattern, and the costumes and new "wenzhang (a shed for actors to rest and change clothes)" were changed to yellow to show the dignity of this association. The artists were also proud of it, and the value of the association has doubled since then. The performance style was influenced by it. First of all, the scale was particularly majestic and spectacular: in the "Zouhui" performance, the first group was arranged by four men each carrying a pair of "Longhuang (a round box with five layers, containing food, offerings and clothing)", with four triangular flags with yellow background and blue edges inserted on the upper edge of the cage. The flag heads were connected diagonally with ropes, and small bells were tied to the ropes. The bells made pleasant sounds with the vibration of the shoulder pole, showing the emperor's power; the second group was composed of eight men holding a golden dragon-shaped "Chenzi (a traditional folk musical instrument with a gong hung on a wooden crutch)" in their left hands and a wooden mallet in their right hands. They walked in a square step and struck the gong while walking. The sound was crisp and bright, indicating that the gong was clearing the way. The third group was sixteen children dancing with cymbals, performing while marching and beating cymbals. Behind them were six young men carrying "Xinwen Accounts" to shade the children, showing that the children dancing with cymbals were as precious as the crown prince. The fourth group is ten young men, each carrying a big drum, beating the drum while marching, the drum sound is like thunder, and it is bold and powerful; the four groups constitute a mighty parade, which fully reflects the majesty and grandeur of the royal family. Secondly, the royal solemnity is also more obvious in the footwork and action performance. In terms of its footwork: "walking forward", it is like walking normally, and it looks generous; the step amplitude in the "shaking cymbals" action is very small: the right foot crosses a small step to the right, the left foot quickly puts it next to the right foot, the toes touch the ground, and then do symmetrical movements; the so-called "jumping cymbals" action is just jumping forward or backward in the "horse squatting" posture. Because the overall speed of the music rhythm is slow, its jumping action style is as steady as the music. In terms of action rules, it uses more "bow and arrow steps" and "horse squatting", and the upper body movement amplitude is large, so the action style is still relatively stable and solid. Nowadays, the children who dance with the cymbals are all girls, which adds a touch of simple and gentle charm to the original calm and solemn style.
