Tianmen Mountain Natural Scenic Area is located in Liukeyu Village, Shicheng Town, Miyun County, Beijing. The scenic area is 4 kilometers long, covers an area of 3,000 mu, and has more than 40 scenic spots. The main scenic spot "Tianmen" is also known as "Ban Pole Eye", with an altitude of more than 800 meters, a height of 60 meters, and a width of 35 meters. According to legend, it was the pole eye used by Erlang Shen to carry the mountain to fill the sea. When Erlang Shen was halfway through the mountain, he saw that the pole eye was about to break, so he put down the mountain. The pole eye in the south is in Zhangjiajie, Hunan, and the pole eye in the north is in Liukeyu Village. The cave is embedded in the cliff, and it is suddenly transparent like a gate to heaven. Tianmen Mountain got its name from this. Because it is in the north, people call it "North Tianmen Mountain". Walk about 500 meters forward from the gate of Kyoto's first waterfall, you will reach the entrance of Tianmen Mountain, which can only accommodate one car. When you enter, the scenery suddenly becomes clear, as if you have entered a fairyland on earth. On both sides are emerald green mountains, and at the bottom of the valley is the Bantan Creek formed by mountain spring water. The creek flows among the dense woods, shining brightly. The "Tianmen Mountain Grass Carp", a fish species unique to Tianmen Mountain, swims freely in the clear stream, wagging its tail. The leisurely and contented demeanor makes people envy and wish they could be one of them. Going upstream along the Bantan Creek, the scenery along the way, such as the Stone Box Pond, Mantou Stone, Hot Spring, Stone Forest, Three Stone Ponds, Xuantian Stone, Shuangta Peak, Jiguan Peak, Crescent Pond, Tianmen Spring, etc., is dazzling. Hundreds of years old chestnut trees, red pear trees and other ancient trees can be seen everywhere, but the most amazing thing is "Tianmen Mountain". "Tianmen" is located at the main peak of Tianmen Mountain, 800 meters above sea level. You can see this magical landscape about 1.5 kilometers along the Bantan Creek. On this north-south mountain, there is a football field-sized hole on the knife-shaped ridge. Looking out of the hole, you can see white clouds floating in the blue sky. Climbing up to Tianmen by stepping on more than 100 iron ladders, cool breeze blows on your face, making you feel "three feet and three meters away from the sky". Every day, the glow of the rising red sun shines out from Tianmen, and its position is different throughout the year, forming the spectacular "Sunrise at Tianmen". From the 13th to the 17th of each lunar month, the moon hangs in the middle of Tianmen like a silver mirror, as if one of Erlang Shen's eyes is watching the world, which is called "Moon Hanging at Tianmen". These two unique landscapes are rare in China. Tianmen Mountain has a wide variety of flora and fauna, lush vegetation, a forest coverage rate of up to 95%, fresh air, and peculiar topography: the stone monkey, human face, cockscomb peak and other strange mountains and rocks are vivid, and the uncanny workmanship of nature is amazing; small animals such as young chickens, hares, badgers, roe deer, squirrels, goats, wild boars, etc. can be seen everywhere; azaleas, apricot flowers, and chestnut flowers are everywhere; the wild fruit ditch is 2 kilometers long, and the mountain pear trees, century-old chestnut trees, pecans, wild dates, kiwis, and wild grapes are full of fruits in the ripe season. The fruits are natural and harmless, rich in nutrition, providing unique conditions for picking; Oak Mountain, which covers an area of about 1,000 acres, does not see a single tree. In late autumn, the leaves turn red, and it looks like a burning volcano from a distance, which is very spectacular. There are also more than a thousand kinds of Chinese herbal medicines growing in the scenic area, which is a rare popular science education base and natural tourist attraction. There is a magical legend about the origin of Tianmen Mountain. A long time ago, all the mountains were in the northeast of the Great Wall. The people living there opened up the mountains and reclaimed fields for their livelihood. They worked hard for many years and exhausted several generations. The spirit of people opening up the mountains moved the Emperor of Heaven, so he ordered Hercules, the son of Kua'e, to carry the mountains to the south to fill the sea. Hercules had just come out with the order of the Emperor of Heaven, when he ran into the maid of Chang'e in Guanghan Palace who came to him and said that Chang'e had something urgent to do and asked him to go immediately. When he was in a dilemma, Erlang Shen happened to come in from outside. Hercules and Erlang Shen had a good relationship, so he entrusted the task of moving the mountains to Erlang Shen and hurried to see Chang'e. Erlang Shen accepted the request from his friend and knew that the imperial decree could not be disobeyed, so he hurriedly picked up the shoulder pole and rode the cloud to the outside of the pass, picked up the mountain and walked away. Halfway through, seeing that the shoulder pole was about to break, he let the mountain go. It didn't matter that Erlang Shen let go of the mountain, as two famous Tianmen Mountain Scenic Areas appeared in China. The South Tianmen Scenic Area in Zhangjiajie, Hunan has long been famous, while the North Tianmen Mountain has always been unknown to outsiders.

Philosophy related to the heritage
From the perspective of Eastern philosophy, Beijing Tianmenshan Tourist Scenic Area (Miyun) can be interpreted as a natural space full of "Tao". In Taoist philosophy, mountains, rivers, trees and animals in nature are all manifestations of "Tao", and they exist in the most natural state without artificial carving and intervention. The natural scenery of Tianmen Mountain, such as its steep peaks, clear streams, and dense forests, are all concrete manifestations of "Tao". Here, people can experience harmonious coexistence with nature and feel the realm of "harmony between man and nature", that is, the harmonious unity of man and nature. At the same time, the tranquility and seclusion of Tianmen Mountain also give people the opportunity to calm down, introspect and meditate, and experience inner peace and tranquility, which is the realm of "rule by inaction" pursued in Taoist philosophy. From the perspective of Western philosophy, Beijing Tianmenshan Tourist Scenic Area (Miyun) can be interpreted as a space full of "beauty". In Western aesthetics, the beauty of nature is the highest level of beauty, which does not depend on people's subjective feelings, but exists objectively. The natural scenery of Tianmen Mountain, such as its steep peaks, clear streams, and dense forests, are all concrete manifestations of natural beauty. Here, people can experience the magnificence and mystery of nature and feel the beauty of nature, which is the "experience of beauty" pursued in Western aesthetics. At the same time, the tranquility and seclusion of Tianmen Mountain also give people the opportunity to experience the beauty of "stillness", which is the "beauty of tranquility" pursued in Western aesthetics. In addition, the natural scenery of Tianmen Mountain can also be interpreted as a kind of "natural order", which is the "beauty of order" pursued in Western philosophy.
