Archipiélago de Revillagigedo

Located in the eastern Pacific Ocean, this archipelago consists of four remote islands and their surrounding waters: San Benedicto, Socorro, Roca Partida and Clarion. The archipelago is part of an underwater mountain range, with the four islands representing volcanic peaks above sea level. The islands provide important habitat for a variety of wildlife, especially seabirds. The surrounding waters are home to large pelagic species such as manta rays, whales, dolphins and sharks.

French Austral Lands and Seas

French Southern Territories and Waters include the largest rare surface landmass in the South Indian Ocean: the Crozet, Kerguelen, Saint-Paul and Amsterdam Islands, as well as 60 small subantarctic islands. This "oasis" in the middle of the Southern Ocean covers an area of more than 67 million hectares and is home to one of the highest concentrations of birds and marine mammals in the world. In particular, it is home to the world's largest populations of king penguins and yellow-nosed albatrosses. Far from centres of human activity, the islands represent an exceptionally well-preserved showcase of biological evolution and a unique terrain for scientific research.

Ombilin Coal Mining Heritage of Sawahlunto

Located in an inaccessible part of Sumatra, this industrial estate was developed by the Dutch East Indies government during a globally significant period of industrialization in the late 19th and early 20th centuries to mine, process and transport high-quality coal. The workforce was recruited from the local Minangkabau people and supplemented by Javanese and Chinese contract workers, as well as convict labour from areas under Dutch control. It included mining areas and company towns, coal storage facilities at the port of Emahavn, and a railway network linking the mines to coastal facilities. The Umbrian Coal Mine Heritage Site is an integrated system that allows for efficient deep-hole mining, processing, transport and shipment of coal. It is also an outstanding testimony to the exchange and integration of local knowledge and practices with European technology.

Heard and McDonald Islands

Heard Island and McDonald Islands are located in the Southern Ocean, approximately 1,700 km from the Antarctic continent and 4,100 km southwest of Perth. As the only volcanically active subantarctic islands, they "open a window to the Earth", providing opportunities to observe ongoing geomorphic processes and glacial dynamics. Heard Island and McDonald Island are among the world's rare pristine island ecosystems, with unique conservation value in the complete absence of introduced flora and fauna and human impact.
