Yosemite National Park
Yosemite National Park is located in central California. It features "hanging" valleys, numerous waterfalls, cirques, smooth domes, moraines and U-shaped valleys, and a variety of granite landforms formed by glacial action. There is also a wide variety of flora and fauna at altitudes between 600 and 4,000 meters.
Mount Sanqingshan National Park
Sanqingshan National Park covers an area of 22,950 hectares, located in the western part of the Huaiyu Mountain Range in northeastern Jiangxi Province (eastern central China), and was inscribed on the World Heritage List for its unique landscape, which is shrouded in clouds and dotted with bizarre stone pillars and peaks: 48 granite peaks and 89 granite pillars, many of which are shaped like human or animal outlines. Huaiyu Mountain is 1,817 meters above sea level, and its natural beauty is accentuated by the juxtaposition of granite landforms with vegetation and special meteorological conditions, which form an ever-changing and fascinating landscape with bright halos on the clouds and white rainbows. The area is influenced by the subtropical monsoon and the sea, forming a temperate forest island that rises above the surrounding subtropical landscape. There are also forests and numerous waterfalls, some of which are 60 meters high, as well as lakes and springs.
Ancient City of Sigiriya
The ruins of the capital built by the parricide King Kasyapa I (477-95) are located on a steep hillside, on the summit of a granite peak about 180 meters high ("Lion Rock" overlooking the jungle on all sides). A series of corridors and stairs built of brick and mortar extend from the mouth of a huge lion, leading to the site.
Matobo Hills
The area displays a number of unique rock formations that tower above the granite shield that covers much of Zimbabwe. These large stones provide a wealth of natural shelter and have been associated with human habitation from the Early Stone Age through to the Early Historic period, and intermittently since. It also features an outstanding series of rock paintings. The Matobo Hills remain a focal point for local communities, who still use shrines and sacred sites that are closely linked to traditional, social and economic activities.
Yougu Shentan Natural Scenic Area
Yougu Shentan is located in Huairou District, a tourist attraction in the suburbs of Beijing. Between the green mountains and clear waters, Yougu Shentan, with its mysterious and magnificent appearance, provides a new place for Beijing tourists to explore, relax and vacation. Yougu Shentan is located at the southern foot of Yunmeng Mountain, 25 kilometers northeast of Huairou City, 75 kilometers from Beijing, and is connected by National Highways 101 and 111. Beijing tourists can take bus No. 916 to Huairou for transfer or take the bus from Beijing to Fengning to Yougu Shentan Station. Yougu Shentan has a unique natural tourist landscape due to its special geographical location, peculiar mountain structure, rich mineral resources, and beautiful myths and legends. In the canyon, hundreds of springs converge, streams crisscross, and high canyons stand. Not only can you appreciate the uncanny workmanship of nature, but you can also enjoy the unique "waterfalls" and "divine pools". Its natural and spectacular appearance is breathtaking, and the various legends of the local people have formed a series of "difficult to describe paintings". The waterfall is a hundred feet high, with two layers, one above and one below. The upper layer has a steep cliff, and the rushing mountain spring is like a dragon coming out of the valley. The huge drop hits the granite cliff, roaring in the valley, and the water splashes up several meters, then spreads on the scaly cliff, forming a water curtain several meters wide, flowing down several feet, forming a "waterfall" wonder. The magic pool is a hundred feet square and several feet deep. It connects the waterfall above and draws clear water below, turning the torrent into gentle and overflowing clear waves. The magic lies in the two waterfalls sandwiching a pool, and the three and the mountains on both sides are a whole piece of granite. Its naturalness and magical magnificence are the charm of nature.
