Stone locks originated in the Tang Dynasty and flourished in the Qing Dynasty. They were the basic means of strength training in military camps. Later, they gradually spread among the people and developed into a fitness sport that integrates strength, skills and fitness. The spread of the sport is mainly carried out in the form of teaching by words and deeds, and the master leads the apprentice. After the founding of New China, it was listed as a competition item in the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth National Games. In 2003, it evolved from a folk hobby to a prescribed competition item in the National Wushu Kung Fu Competition, and was hailed as "Chinese weightlifting". Stone locks have outstanding fitness effects and have a good preventive and therapeutic effect on cervical and spinal diseases. Stone locks can also be used for performances. Two-person and multi-person group performances fully integrate the high, floating, stable and lively aspects of stone locks, giving people an enjoyment of artistic beauty.
