Huaibei drum is popular in the border area of Jiangsu, Shandong, Henan and Anhui. It had taken shape in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. It was initially accompanied by hand drums and sung in the form of half-speaking and half-singing jingles. In the late and mid-Qing Dynasty, artists changed the hand drums to simple brackets to fix the drums in fixed positions and scenes for singing. The instruments of Huaibei drum mainly include drums, drum stands and boards. The actors beat the drums with one hand and the boards with the other hand, speaking and singing at the same time. There are three forms of singing: slow board, fast board and duozi board. When singing, "live mouth" is often used, commonly known as "pieces" and "praises", which are flexibly used to describe various scenes and scenes. The singing works include traditional and modern books such as "Romance of the Three Kingdoms", "Investiture of the Gods", "Yang Family Generals" and "The Biography of Yue Fei". Huaibei drum is mainly sung, supplemented by speaking. The singing is high-pitched and gentle, with strong local characteristics. It often uses local tunes or absorbs tunes from other local operas. The language is humorous and is deeply loved by the masses in Huaibei area.
