Miao Village Clothing
The Miao village in Cengtai Town has distinctive clothing and food. Miao women usually wear a short jacket with narrow sleeves, a large collar and a front opening, and a pleated skirt on the lower body. The dresses can be long enough to reach the feet, flowing and graceful, or short enough to not reach the knees, graceful and moving. When they are in casual wear, they often wrap a headscarf on their heads, wear a short jacket with a large front opening on the upper body, and wear long pants with embroidered lace on the lower body, an embroidered waistband, and a few exquisite silver ornaments to set off. Women have the most styles of clothing, wearing pleated skirts, but the length varies. Some reach the feet, some exceed the calves, some exceed the knees, and some are only about 30 cm, but the most common is the skirt that reaches the calf. The colors are green, blue, and white. The skirts are embroidered, embroidered, inlaid, batik or plain. The tops have large front openings and large collars. During festivals, women visit relatives and friends, and wear a variety of silver ornaments on their heads, necks, and wrists. Men's clothing styles are relatively simple. Men usually wear a short coat with a front opening or a left-front opening (some wear a short coat with a right-front opening), long trousers, a large belt, and a long green scarf on their heads. In winter, they wrap their calves with leggings. In the northwest of Guizhou, they wear linen clothes with patterns and a wool felt on their shoulders. Miao men's attire is relatively simple, with a short coat with a front opening or a long gown with a right opening, a wool felt with geometric patterns on their shoulders, a green turban on their heads, and leggings on their calves.
