The Cibihu Sea Lantern Festival is held on the 23rd day of the seventh lunar month every year. It is the temple fair of Duan Laosan, the Dragon King of the river head of Cibihu. The Bai people from Eryuan, Dengchuan, Dali, Yangbi, Jianchuan and other places gather at the Dragon King Temple of the river head of Cibihu. During the day, they burn incense to worship the master, watch art performances and singing competitions. At night, a bonfire party is held in the open space in front of the temple, and the Yi people sing and dance, and then organize the release of sea lanterns. In recent years, in order to develop the tourism resources of Cibihu, the cultural temple fair (also known as the Cibihu Sea Lantern Festival) carefully organized by the "Hailong Amusement Park" has become more and more colorful year by year. During the three-day temple fair, amateur art performances, cave sutra music performances, folk song competitions, dragon boat races and swimming competitions were held. The organizers also carefully made thousands of sea lanterns, which are of various forms and have their own characteristics, including lotus lanterns, carp lanterns, phoenix lanterns, dragon king lanterns, etc. At night, fishermen along the lake rowed wooden boats to the main temple, loaded with sea lanterns made in the morning. Amid the sound of firecrackers, a respected elder in the village used a dragon flag to light the first dragon lantern and solemnly placed it in the center of the lake. Then, the sea lanterns in each boat were lit one after another, slowly drifting to the center of the lake, and strings of sea lanterns drifted away with the waves. The entire Ci Bi Lake was lit with thousands of lights, twinkling, like stars falling into the lake. Tourists and local Bai youths who came to watch sang Bai love songs on the boats and in the woods on the hillsides, enjoying themselves all night long. Some couples were brought together by folk songs and eventually became partners.
