Huyang Water Margin
"Huyang's "Water Margin" is actually a folk performance form that is both martial arts and dance, combining fitness and entertainment functions. At the beginning of this project as a folk performance form, the performers had to wear makeup according to the characters in the chapter novel "Water Margin" to perform, so it was named "Water Margin". Later, it was gradually reduced to performances with headscarves, jerseys and pants, and tiger-head boots. However, people can still distinguish the images of Lin Chong, Guan Sheng, Lu Fang, Lu Da and other characters from the guns, knives, halberds, shovels and other weapons held by the performers. There are many performers in "Water Margin", including miscellaneous personnel, generally more than 60 people, and sometimes more than 100 people, which depends on the size of the village. The performers must be men between 20 and 30 years old, because the weapons used in the performance are authentic iron products, which are dangerous and require strength. The performance forms are generally divided into single unarmed training, unarmed sparring, continuous unarmed training, multiple unarmed training, and single weapon training, sparring, continuous weapon training, and multiple weapon training. The weapons used include spears, knives, long sticks, halberds, forks, benches, oars, nine-section whips, three-section sticks, crutches, etc. Huyang's "Water Margin" also has a special "gong and drum scripture". The whole performance is getting faster and faster with the sound of gongs and drums and "blowing sharps", which is thrilling. "Water Margin" appeared in the form of a collective performance in the Huyang area shortly after Shi Naian's chapter novel "Water Margin" was published in the late Yuan Dynasty and early Ming Dynasty. It has a history of about 600 years. To trace its source, when a large number of war refugees moved south to settle in the Huyang area during the Jin Dynasty, it has been about 1,600 years.
