Li Diaoyuan, also known by his courtesy name Gengtang, pseudonym Yucun, and alias Tongshan Chunweng, was born in Nancun, Luojiang County, Mianzhou (now Baolin Township, An County). He was a scholar, drama theorist, and poet in the middle of the Qing Dynasty. In the 28th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign (1763), Li Diaoyuan was admitted as a Jinshi and became a Zhejishi of the Hanlin Academy. After the dissolution of the academy, he was appointed as the Director of the Ministry of Personnel, and later moved to the Guangdong Provincial Examination Chief. After returning to Beijing, he served as the Deputy Director of the Ministry of Personnel's ... Li Ti-pan accused Guo of "careless escort" and informed the prefect of Yongping Prefecture (Lulong County belongs to Yongping Prefecture) Gong Yangzheng to make a memorial together. In the spring of the 48th year of Qianlong's reign (1783), Li Diaoyuan was exiled to Yili, Xinjiang. Because his friend, Yuan Shoutong, the governor of Zhili, pleaded for him, Emperor Qianlong allowed Li Diaoyuan to redeem his crime with 10,000 gold coins. Li Diaoyuan borrowed money from everywhere to pay the treasury, and was finally free to return to his hometown. In his later years, Li Diaoyuan devoted himself to writing, and his works were very abundant, mainly including 40 volumes of "Tongshan Poetry Collection", "Yucun Quhua" and "Yucun Drama Talk" on drama theory. He also compiled and engraved 847 volumes of "Hanhai" by Bashu literati since the Han Dynasty and his own works, and compiled dozens of Guangdong folk song collections such as "Yuefeng". Li Diaoyuan's works left important materials for future generations to study the history of drama, and his works also became a valuable legacy for future generations.
