Chuansha folk tales have a long history, profound cultural heritage, and a solid mass base. They are the cradle of Pudong stories. As a form of folk cultural art, it includes two parts: language art and performing arts. It is based on the Pudong dialect and is passed on by word of mouth. It can be told, heard, remembered, and spread. The speeches are mainly given by one person, without paying attention to props, scenery, and actor makeup. During the speech, one person plays multiple roles, mainly relying on language, gestures, and eye contact to convey emotions. Since the anti-Japanese hero Qiao Tong "led the construction of Chuansha Castle" in the 36th year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1557), Chuansha has gone through more than 460 years of vicissitudes, and dialect stories have been widely circulated among the people. For example, "The Legend of Mud Dragon" and "The Legend of Chuansha" in the Ming and Qing Dynasties; "Shen Yuqing and Chuansha Towels" and "Huang Yanpei and Little Putuo" in the Republic of China, etc. This spontaneous spread of stories laid the foundation for the development of Chuansha folk stories. Nowadays, folk legends, anecdotes, current affairs, new people and new things are all the creative themes of Chuansha folk stories. Talking about things around us and expressing local feelings, Chuansha folk tales are close to life and are well-liked by the people. They are an important part of local culture. The storytellers, led by the representative inheritor Xia Youmei, are excellent in their creation and presentation. There are many amateur storytellers in government agencies, schools, streets, and towns with high enthusiasm. They have achieved great results in national and urban storytelling activities. Chuansha folk tales have won the "eight consecutive championships" in the Shanghai Storytelling Competition and have a great social impact. Today's Chuansha folk tales have changed from being stereotyped as one person telling stories to being innovatively told by two people, three people, with music, and in scenes. As dialect stories keep pace with the times, young audiences are also fond of this ancient art of storytelling. This gives the ancient form of dialect stories a new brilliance. In 2003, Chuansha Town was named "National Story Town" by the Ministry of Culture. (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.) (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.)
