Ansai peasant paintings, as the name suggests, are paintings painted by peasants themselves. There are more than a thousand folk painters in Ansai, Shaanxi, and most of them are peasant women. In their spare time, they use their brushes to depict and reflect new life, and have achieved great success. Ansai peasant paintings have beautiful composition, rich imagination, bold techniques, and very obvious color effects. They have unique artistic effects and are known as the "Picasso of the East". Ansai peasant paintings have participated in the "French Independent Salon Art Exhibition" and exhibitions around the world and in various parts of China. The works have won awards across the country many times, among which "Bull Head" won the first prize in the national evaluation. Some of the works are collected by the National Art Museum of China. Ansai peasant painters have visited France, the United States, Japan, Germany, Austria, the Philippines and other countries for performance exchanges. In 1998, Ansai County was named "Hometown of Chinese Peasant Paintings" by the Ministry of Culture of China.
